Antique RestorationAntique restoration when done properly will maintain or increase the esthetic and monetary value of an antique. However if the restoration is done without regard for the antique’s finish or original purpose, it’s value as an antique is lost. Southwest Wood Works takes a conservative approach to antique restoration. We do not “refinish” antiques or alter their original intended use. We will repair or replace damaged wood as needed to maintain the antiques functionality. Finish restoration involves cleaning and then stabilizing the existing original finish. When necessary a new finish may be applied to a damaged area to preserve the integrity of the wood. Hardware is always repaired if possible or replaced with identical hardware when necessary. We will always do our best to preserve the original patina and value of your antique furniture.
